TAEKWONDO GRONINGEN

Especially known for its high and varied kicking techniques usually from a mobile stance, Taekwondo is very popular nowadays. This Korean self-defense/combat sport is a lot younger than those age-old styles like Karate, Ju-Jitsu or Kung Fu. However, its origins come from these old styles; hence, Taekwondo has a rich history.

Besides the (often spectacular) kicking techniques, Taekwondo also offers a rich array of punching and striking techniques; thus the Taekwondoin (the practitioner) can make complete use of his or her body. In this way Taekwondoins do not only learn a great deal of self-defense, but they also learn how to use and control their whole body. Furthermore, an advantageous side effect to doing Taekwondo is: you train all your muscles, so you get a healthy and fit body!

TAEKWONDO AT FUSEN SHO

Taekwondo at Fusen Sho is mostly about training with one another in a comfortable atmosphere and in such a way improve your skills. There is no room for macho behaviour or hoodlums. Yet this does not mean we make no demands. Even though training is meant to be enjoyable, the group are expected to work hard to get to the next rank (which is indicated by the colour of the belt around your waist).

At the moment Fusen Sho is a young group consisting of university students, people who have just started working and a few final-year secondary school students. What is remarkable is the large amount of female participants in our group, since there are usually very few women doing martial arts or self-defense.

TOGETHER

Fusen Sho Taekwondo Groningen was founded by a small group of students who wanted to advance in Taekwondo, after having completed the ACLO Taekwondo course. Therefore, we do not teach to make profits, but to improve our skills as a group in a sociable environment. The fees are accommodated to students, so that they can join without being broke.

Joost van Duijn, who taught the course at the ACLO, also teaches at Fusen Sho Taekwondo.
